At a meeting of tba Government Insurance Association last night Sir Julius Yogel, the Chairman, reported that 2571 votes had bpen recorded in favor of Mr Shannon, and 1428 in favor of Mr Graham. The Chairman moved the adoption of the report, which was carried. Major Atkinson desired to move an amendment that no new buildings

should be erected in Wellington or elsewhere, but the Chairman ruled it could not be put, and Major Atkinson said he would call a special meeting to discuss the question. Messrs Johnston & Co. have received cable advice that the steamer Tamsui sailed from Pooohow for Wellington direct on the 30th ult. with 1815 tons of new season's tea made up as follows :— Wellington, GOO tons ; Dun; edin, 375; Auckland, 350; Lyttelton, 280.
