REEFTON.
(From our own Correspondent.) The only returns reported for the week are : Fiery Cross, 4580zs from 176 tons, from the blankets only ; Inglewood, 150ozs for the week ; Reform, 1940zs gold from 26G tons. The enforced idleness of the Keep It Dark, Welcome, and Venus batteries produce a certain amount of depression but this is of a temporary character. In the Warden's Court, in the matter of the application for the cancellation of the Homeward Bound Company's lease the would be jumpers were mulcted in fifteen guineas costs. — The Welcome Company's application for a tunnel was granted. This had been opposed by the Hopeful Tribute party on a former occasion.
The contract for the bridge over the left hand branch of the Inangahua river has at last been signed, and our member, Mr Menfceath, is deserving of much credit for his unflagging perseverance against all obstacles in obtaining this boon for the country.
, Hia Lordship the R. C. Bishop of Wellington arrived this evening. A large number of townsfolk went out to Square- town to give him a welcome.
The frost, which was the severest known here for years, has broken up, and it is raining steadily.
