FATAL ACCIDENT AT HAVELOCK.
Blenheim. A mill hand named Whitington Lane, residing at Kaituna, was accidentally shot yesterday morning when getting into a boat at Havelock to go duck shooting. His companion, named Harry Dorreen, was handling the gun, when one charge went off and lodged in Lane's groin. He was put into a trap which started for Blenheim Hospital, but he died when 7 miles on the road. Deceased was 30 years of age, and leaves a wife and two children.
