We understand that Mrs Snellof Auckland, and Miss L. M. Wiil of Christchurch, have been appointed assistant mistresses to fill the vacancies caused by tne retirement of Miss Milne and Miss Harrison at the Nelson College for girls. A perfect model of the wonderful Strasburg clock will be on view in tbe Oddfellows' Hail from Wednesday nsxt. It is 12 feet in height and G fee*, in width, or one-fifth of the size cf the original,- aud the mechanism is marvellously accurate. The Inglewood Company', return is not yet in. Messrs Smythe & Co., draw attention to the sale of pot plants to-morrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. Attention is called to J. C. M. Karsten'a sale of live stock, farming implements, household furni-ure, .fce, to be held to-mor-row on the premises adjoining Mr T. Small's, Todd's Busb, Wakapuaka. The sale will -commence at 11 o'clock sharp. A special meeting of the members of the Nelson Institute is called for to-morrow evening at S o'clock at the Institute, when the question of increasing the rate of subscription to HI per annnm will be discussed. The annual tea in connection with the Foxhill School will take place on Wednesday next. A dance will be held in the evening. At the gymnastics at the College tomorrow a very keen competion is expected for the Senior ifi well as for the Junior Cup. Not only parents and friends of pupils will be welcome, but everyone taking an interest in athletic sports. The prizes for the athletic sports will be presented on Weduesday, the College prize day. The monthly inspection of the Volunteers will take placa on Wednesday evening next, and ds this will be the last parade this year a large muster is expected. The country corps wiil come to town by special train as usual.
