THE DEPUTATION TO WELLINGTON
(From a correspondent.) Wellington, Saturday. The deputation, consisting of Messrs Everett, Pitt, Richmond, and Cock, together with Messrs Levestam, Shephard, and Hursthouse, M.H.R., had a long interview with the Minister for Public Works to-day and laid before him the resolutions passed at the late Nelson public meeting. They also handed him a written statement, fully
setting forth the grounds justifying the resolutions. A long conversation ensued, in which the advantages of the inland route, as compared with the coastal line were fully urged, and a further interview wag arranged for Monday morning.
