Tbe Wallace left for Wellington at 2.30 this afternoon. The Murray arrived at Greymouth this morning, and leaves again for Westport tomorrow morning. The Lyttelton sailed for Blenheim, Wellington and Kekerangu at eleven this morning. The Taiaroa leaves Onehunga for South to-morrow. The Croydon Lass arrived from Kaiapoi this afternoon with a cargo of potatoes. The Wellington leaves Wellington for Lyttelton and Danedin to-morrow afternoon. The Prospect has gone to the Sandspit for a load of the rigging, blocks, &c, recovered from the Messenger. Tbe Claud Hamilton was due at Port Chalmers from Melbourne to-day. She comes direct to Nelsou from the former port, leaving here for Melbourne via West Coast on Friday The cable-repairing steamer Agnes was lying at anchor at Worser's Bay when the Kennedy passed last night, there being too much sea on in the Straits for her to do any work. The Kennedy arrived here at 6.30 this morning, having left Wellington at 6.30 p.m yesterday. Light S.E. winds were experienced in the Straits. One man was lost.— The P. and O. steamer Mongolia while coming down the Thames collided with the steamer Atlas, and waa damaged, but not seriously. A London telegram of the 23rd inst. to the Melbourne Argus says :— The accident to the P. & O steamer Australia occurred off Ushant on Friday. The steamer Trentham Hall ■was passing and in attempting to tow her tack broke several hawsers. The high seas finally forced her to desist after two days, and she went to Plymouth for assistance. Afterwards the Australia drifted into a dangerous position near Guernsey, where the Valorous and another war vessel followed her with the intention of towing her out. Thia failed, and with difficulty tbe vessels removed the passengers, who were conveyed to Plymouth, where they will await the Pekin. Powerful tugs brought the Australia to Plymouth today.
