CORRESPONDENCE.

To the Editor of the 'Evening Mail.' Sir— Will you allow me through the medium of your columns to address the following few words to my fellow electors in the Collingwood district:— ln a few days from the present date you will have to make your choice of a representative in the forthcoming Parliament. As you are aware, you have three candidatea to choose from, viz., Mr Huddleston, a Canterbury man, supposed to be now occupying land in Riwaka, but who is not settled there yet and if not elected probably never will be. Next, there is Mr Armstrong, a gentleman from Otago, sent expressly in the interest of Sir G. Grey. Neither of these gentlemen has one shilling's worth of interest in our district, and never saw it until a few weeks ago, and probably never would have seen it but for the chance of adding the coveted letters M.H.It, to their names. The other is your old member Mr Gibbs, who has a large property in our district, and ha 3 been known to most of us for over 25 years. For about ten years he was our representative in the Provincial Council, and for about seven years in the House of Assembly. He is therefore an old and tried member, who has always done his best for our district. Most of the sins imputed to Mr Gibbs by his political enemies have proved to be only imaginary when they come to be fairly sifted, therefore I hope that you will return the old man in preference to political adventurers who have not the slightest interest in our district. — I am, &c, Ajj Elector. Takaka, Sept. q, 1879.
