MAGISTRATES' COURT.

[Before N. Edwabds, A. Jones, and J. SCLANDERS, EsqS , J.J.P.] William Harvey was charged with trespassing in search of game on the property of Thomas MacKy at Drumduan. Mr Atkinson appeared for the defendant. James Mackay, manager at Drumduan, stated that on the 20th May he saw the de fendant three or four chains on the Drumduan side of the boundary line between that property and Harvey's with a dog and gun. This was complainant's case. The defendant stated that he did not, to his knowledge, cross the boundary, and, if he did, he was not in pursuit of game. The Bench considered it a trivial case and dismissed it. Gotlieb Lange was charged with having no visible means of support. Defendant pleaded gailty. Constable Knapp stated that he had known defendant for some years. He had no place of abode, and complaints were frc • quently made regarding him. One man had found him in a hut of his, and on ordering him out wa3 threatened with a knife. He did not seem very sound in his mind. Frothcroe.— Action to recover 9s 6d for work done. Judgment for amount claimed and costs £1 7s. The same v. W. Kearns, for £6 10s for goods supplied and work done. Judgment for amount chimed and costs £1 1 is. Mr Percy Adatn9 appeared for the plaintiff in both these cases. Bright v. Hamilton.— Action to recover £17 7s Id for meat supplied. Judgment with costs. Bashford v. Scott, for £1 15s 6d for goods supplied. Judgment for amount claimed and costs. Jesse Piper, for allowing his chimney to take fire, was fined 10s and costs. John Burrell and George Lewis Walters, for allowing horses to stray in the streets, were fined 5s each and costs. Joseph Stewart and Joanna Polglase, for allov. Ing cows to stray, were fined 2s for each cow and costs. Joanna Polglase was charged with allowing a bull to stray, Constable Levy said that numerous complaints had been made about this bull, and he had constantly been in search of him, but had not before been able to find him straying. Defendant said that the bull was generally tethered in a fenced paddock, but bulls would occasionally break loose. She would guarantee that he did not get away again, as she would have a ring put in his nose and have him crefully kept at home. The Superintendent of Police said that under these circumstances he would not press for a heavy penalty, which might be inflicted to the amount of £5. Fined £1 and costs 7s.
