The Taranaki leaves Port Chalmers to-day arriving here on Saturday. ' _ The schooner May is expected from Collingwood with a load of coal. The Murray left Westport for Nelson last night, and was signalled this afternoon. The Kennedy is detained at Wellington by a heavy N.W. gale. She will sail for Nelson as soon as it moderates The Charles Edward reports heavy N.W. weather at Hokitika, with freshet in tbe river. ..Her sailiug is postponed until tomorrow morning. The Wallace ssiled for Wanganui at 5.30 yesterday, and must have experienced heavy weather during the night, as her arrival is not yet reported. The Taiaroa left Onehunga at nine o'clock this morning. She will arrive here to-mor-row evening, and sail for Wellington and ; South by the same tide. '. The Wellington arrived at Wellington this morning. She left there again this afternoon, will arrive here to-morrow, and return to Picton and Wellington on Saturday morning. In consequence of the strong "blow" to-day, the wind veering from N.E. to W..* there were no departures. For the same reason there was only one arrival, that of the Murray from the West Coast. The Tararua is not yet telegraphed as having arrived at Westport. Preparations are being made for launching the steam la- nch, of which we made mention last week, and if the weather is fine she will be put into the water to-morrow morning. She will be conveyed to the water's edge on • a four wheeled wagon. The launch will be named the Tainui. The barque Cbaudiere is now 94 days out from Gravesend. Her last passage out was accomplished in something over 100 days, and it can hardly be expected that she will make the present passage out in under that time unless she gets an unexceptional run of winds. Although not belonging to the class of clippers the Chaudiere can render a good account of herself with a fair, wind We learn that Captain Pitfield is still in command, with Mr Marshall as chief officer
