The Secretary was instructed to inform Mrs Collins, of Charleston, that the Board sees no reason to alter its •former decision as to a third subsidy at Charleston, and that it cannot supply/ books and maps to her school. - / - Resolved, That a clock be procured for the Board room. Resolved, That the Secretary remind all teachers of subsidised schools that, in accordance with the rules lately issued, accounts in detail of the schoolfees received, must be forwarded to the Inspector at the close of each quarter, • and fchafrthe payment of subsidies will be contingent on f his being done. The further Consideration of the following suggestions, made by the Inspector was postponed until nexfc meeting : 1. That; the girls now attending the Town Preparatory school remain there under the charge of a mistress, the name of Third Division, Hardy-street 1 , being subsfifcuted for thafc of Preparatory school; 2 That the boys at present attending the Preparatory school be transferred to a new- room to be added to the Bridge-street schools, and to be called the Fourth Division, Bridge-street; school. The following notices of fclltion were then given : — 1. By Archdeacon — That £21h& set apart to defray the expenses of ¥ special inspection of the West Coast schools by the Inspector in November.- • , . 2. By the Bishop of Nelson— Thafc a permanent sub-committee of the Board be appointed, to whom may be referred* all questions concerning the erection or repair of buildings or fencing of lands belonging to the Board; their report on all applications to be* laid before the Board at its monthly meetings. r---3. By Mr Campbell—That, in the opinion of this Board, the time has: arrived when the system of augmentation should be discontinued, and that the Finance Committee be requested to prepare a report, to be laid before the Board at its next meeting, giving each teacher a fixed salary.
