The objects of this Company are to take up protective licenses, with prospective leases, of supposed auriferous lands adjoining the River Maitai. and in the ranges on the Eastern side of Blind Bay, whereon to search for gold and other minerals, and to prove any discoveries thereof which mry be made, with the view, if satisfactory, of establishing Companies for working same. The Company has already made advantageous arrangements for leases with several owners of land in the districts referred to — containing a choice of 200 acre 3 in the aggregate, out of an extent of country embracing 4,000 acres — on eorue of which promising quartz-reefs have lately been discovered, exhibiting traces of gold sufficient to warrat t further exploration. Th' j benefits which may be derived by parties joining the Company areas follows : — They will be entiried to their respective share of any advantages — whether in money or shares— that may be arraniied for with any other Companies which may be established, to lease or purchase the interest of any mineral ground belonging to this Company. In addition to its other merits, this undertaking recommends itself to the public as a means, not only of further developing the mineral resources of th>- province, but of indirectly benefiting the City of Nelson by the expenditure, the Company's operations, if successful, would necessarily occasion.
