Out and about in in Kaiapoi
FORESTERS' SOCIAL Last evening in the Foresters' Hall a very pleasant evening was spent by Foresters and friends. The evening was spent in dancing, music being supplied by Messrs A. 0 .Eyles and G. Addie. A lucky spot was won by Mr and Mrs J. Sellars, and Mr W. McPartlin and Mr E. C. Harper carried out the M.C.'s duties. Among those present were Mr and Mrs W. McPartlin, Mr and Mrs E. C. Harper, Mr and Mrs E. Grimwood, Mr and Mrs L. Brocklebank, Mr and Mrs S. Darling, Mr and Mrs A. O. Eyles, Mesdames Kitson, J. Thompson, A. Broadley, A. Eustace, J. Cowan, Smith Misses J. Phipps, G. Cross, C. Dempsey, N. Diver, N. Thompson, D. Barron, E. and C. Bertram (Papanui), K. Melson, and J. Balorich. FANCY DRESS PARTY On Thursday afternoon in the Orange Hall, a fancy dress party was held in aid of the uniform fund for the St. John's Ambulance cadets. Mesdames C. H. Packwood and T. C. Cross were the judges of the costumes and the winners were Peg Wright (Bride), Janet Monk (Red Riding Hood) and Ailsa Yellow•lees (elfin). Mrs S. J. Richards supplied the music for the dances and also for a community sing. Items were given by Betty Cowan, Kathleen Cattermole, Betty Eustace, Dorothy Cross, Evelyn Hutchinson and Tom Cross.
