Shipments Of Meat To The United Kingdom
The New Zealand Meat Producers Board is advised! by cable from its London Office that the shipments from Australia, South America, and South Africa to the United Kingdom during the first half of August, 1938, were as follows: — .'.■»• Australia—Carcases mutton, 20,128; carcases lamb, 33,868; quarters beef (frozen), 52,605 j quarters- beef (chilled), 7,020. South America—Carcases mutton, 2,894 j carcases lamb, 62,618; quarters beef (frozen), 2,348; quarters beef (chilled), 181,733. Looks Bad Counsel (to the police witness): "But if a man is on his hands and knees in the middle of the road, that does not prove he is drunk." Policeman: "No, sir, it does not. But this one was trying to roll up the white line." The difference between a homely girl, George, and a pretty one, is that one gets on your nerves and the other on your lap.
