SOCIAL EVENING
On Thursday evening a social, organ-, ised by the ladies of St. James’ Guild in aid of Sunday school funds, was held in the Parish Hall. Music for the dancing was played by the Midnight Owls, with an extra by Miss Joyce Smith. The Monte Carlo was won by Mrs Beattie and Mr Grant. Misses Pat Smith and W. Miles contributed recitations, and Miss Alice Miles and Master Allan Miles each sang, their accompaniments being played by Miss Mabel Miles. A competition was won by Miss Pat Smith and Mr Allen.
Among those present were Mr and Mrs E. Beattie, Mr and Mrs H. Miles, Mr and Mrs J. Healee, Mr and Mrs G. Grant, Mesdames C. Briggs, A. Ryde, L Campion, H. Hurley, H. Tallott, J. Feather, P. Rowe, E. Lindsay, Misses Pat Smith, Evelyn Grant, Sylvia Pacitnatz, Joyce Smith, Thompson (Darfield), Paget, Pearl and Eileen Brain, Gladys Feather, Alice Miles, Winnie Miles, Edith Stevens, Vera Feather, Mabel Miles, Molly Jackson, Pat. Lindsay, Mary Richardson, Jan Tallott, Hazel Miles, Joyce Miles, Joan and Betty Wood, Ella Feather, and Alice Rooney. LIBRARY COMMITTEE
'A meeting of the Library Committee was held recently, there being a good attendance of members. Mr E. C. Ducat presided. The resignation of Mr F. Gilbert, who has been several for several years, was received with regret.. Mr C. Judson was appointed secretary. After routine business was transacted, a number of new books were marked and placed on the shelves.
