LONG SERVICE
Fifty Years With Church
Choir
MR AND MRS W. E. BARTON’S RECORD Both Mr W. E. Barton, who was last night re-elected secretary and treasurer of St. John’s Church Choir for the sixteenth year in succession, and IVirs Barton, have been members of church choirs for nearly 50 years. Mrs Barton has been a chorister since she was 14 years of age, and Mr Barton has been a member ever since he came to New Zealand. Both have belonged to St. John’s choir for about 30 years. The Rev; F. P. Fendall was vicar in charge of the parish at the commencement of their long membership, and the Rev. J. F. Feron’s appointment to the charge saw a complete reorganisation, and the choir was robed.
There was a membership of about 45, and Mr 7. C. Thompson was appointed organist. At that time Mr Barton was elected to the position of secretary and treasurer and has held the position very capably ever since.
