FANCY DRESS PARTY

Rangibra District School END OF TERM CELEBRATION For the past two years it has been customary to hold fancy dress parties for the pupils of the Rangiora District School at the eiid of each term. The school has now broken up for the Augxist holidays and yesterday the infants in the afternoon, and the senior children in the evfenihgj gathered at the Parish Hall in fancy dress to Celebrate the occasion. No prizes were awarded, but the children enjoyed themselves very well without, and many effective and original costumes were worn. Afternoon Programme Children from the Infant Department and Standards T. and IT. spent the afternoon, from 3.30 to 4.30, in dancing. The- programme was as follows: Grand March, Polka, Shoemakers, Running Dance, Skipping Dance, Tin Soldiers, Grand Old Duke of York, and The Jolly Miller. Miss N. Bailey at the piano provided music for the dancing. Miss Morgan, Infant Mistress, assisted by members of the staff, organised the proceedings and Mr. G. C F. Robertson acted as M.C. Tea and supper' were important items in the programme at each function. The, Evening In the evening children from Standard 111. upwards danced under the direction of Mr. J. T. O. Stephens, Headmaster, Mr. Hancox, violin, assisting Miss Bailey. The programme was: Grand March, Boston two-step, skating dance, polka and maxina. A group of Standard V. and YI. girls danced very effectively in a ballet.

Ohoka Football Club SUCCESSFUL ANNUAL BALL The Ohoka Football Club's Annual Ball was held in the Ohoka Hall on Wednesday evening. The Club will benefit financially as a result of the success of the Committee's efforts. Music was supplied by Mrs. Cook's dance orchestra, and extras bv Mrs. W. Mayer, Misses H. Ward, D. McGH lienddy and Messrs. W. Mayer and W White. The winners of the lucky spot waits'. were Miss T 5. Johnstone and Mr. T Lynskey, and of the Monte Carlo Miss Graham and Mr. McDonald. Messrs. H. Power and W. Mayer were the M.C.'s. A tin of chocolates was won by Master J. Plaskett. Football Club DANCE AT WOODEND The Woodend Football Club held an enjoyable dance in the "Woodend Hall on Saturday evening, and a large number of visitors from Christchurch and Rangiora helped to make it a success. Mrs. Shea's orchestra supplied the music, and Mr. Solomon played extras. Mr. Tom Solomon was M.C. During the evening Mr. J. Dempster presented Mr. Frier, the custodian, on behalf of the Club, with a pipe and case, in appreciation of his services.
