Church Of Christ Welcomes Minister

Mr Rex Findley, the new evangelist at the Whangarei Church of Christ and his wife, were welcomed to the town on Saturday night by a well-at-tended meeting at the church. Welcoming speeches were made by the Mayor (Mr W. Jones), the Rev. G. E. Brown, representing the National Council of Churches and the Methodist Church, and Mr Trevor Litherland, of the Baptist Church. Apologies were received from the Revs. T. H. Burton (Presbyterian) and Stephen Clark (Congregational) and Captain G. Gray (Salvation Army).

Miss B. McLauchlan welcomed Mr and Mrs Findley on behalf of members of the congregation. Mr G. Venn chaired the meeting. Both Mr and Mrs Findley replied. On Sunday the morning service at the church took the form of an impressive installation and dedication, followed by Communion. The sendee was conducted by Messrs C. Shepherd and G. T. W. Green.

Mr Findley’s address was on “A Young Man’s Approach to the Ministry.”

A social meeting followed the evenice.
