Australian Memorial To Americans
ADELAIDE.— The Federal Council of the Australian-American Association announced recently that it had decided to launch an Australia-wide apeal for £A50,000 to build a memorial to commemorate America's part in saving Australia ‘Tom invasion by the Japanese. The memorial, a council spokesman stated, will be erected on a site overlooking Canberra. ard a competition, with a first prize of CA2OOO, will be conducted for the best design. Sir Keith Murdoch, Victorian delegate to the council, said Australia owned a tremendous debt of gratitude to America and such a memorial would help foster goodwill and understanding between the two countries.
