Controls
"We seek to oil the wheels of industry and trade, and take the bureaucracy out of business. If elected we will remove all unnecessary controls, and, where we can, reduce others.
“It will be our purpose to encourage success, and to remove the fear of nationalisation, which at present Is a penalty of success. “Thrift, industry and self-reliance will become worth while, the supply and variety of goods will be improved, and an honest financial system will stop further cuts in purchasing power. "The National Party’s policy is to attack inflation through a system of finance which will maintain a proper balance between the supply of money and the volume of goods available. "Thus, the purchasing power of wages, pensions, and Incomes generally, will be maintained.
"To ensure the establishment and maintenance of n stable internal price level, and to stop the cost of living from rising, the control of currency and credit will bo divorced from political control, and further reductions in the purchasing power of money (including pensions) Will be avoided.
