DUNEDIN, Fri. (P.A.)—Tar melted in Dunedin streets yesterday when the thermometer soared to 80.3 degrees, the hottest day in the city since last summer. It was a day for light summer clothing and women added a gaytouch to the setting with their bright floral cottons and silks. Men mopped perspiring brows and carried their hats, while a few of the less conventional took 'off their coats. St Clair and St Kilda beaches were popular rendezvous for many people throughout the day, but the water proved as yet too cold for many to venture in for long.
