Correspondence School Course At Massey
WELLINGTON, Wed. (Sp).—“Arrangements have been made to hold a residential school for correspondence school pupils at Massey College.” said the Minister of Education (Mr McCombs) yesterday. “Sixty boys of forms 111., IV., and V. from various parts of the Dominion will assemble at the college on November 2 and begin a course which ends on November 30. Six masters from the correspondence school will also be in residence. "This is an extension,” said the Minister, “of the policy of bringing together groups of correspondence school pupils so that they may have the benefits of group tuition and the social experience of living together with their fellow-pupils. “Four classrooms and a science laboratory are being made available at Massey College for the post-primary group. "A full post-primary curriculum is being provided, with special emphasis on those aspects of the syllabus which are most difficult to deal with by correspondence, such as oral work in languages, laboratory work in science, and’ physical education. Specialist teachers in art and woodwork will visit the school regularly. Arrangements are also being made for practical agricultural studies.”
