Whakatane Men Willing To Work

WELLINGTON, Thu. (P.A.).—The Whakatane branch of the New Zealand Waterside Workers' Union has advised the Minister of Labour (Mr McLagan) by telegram that its members had dissociated themselves from the policy of the national uniorf regarding restricted hours of work. The Minister said this was the second port to follow the sound example set by the Timaru branch, and that he had today signed an order restoring the commission form of control to members at Whakatane and the benefits which went with it, including payment of the guaranteed wage. The commission form of control at Tokomaru Bay waS restored last Tuesday.
