Kamo Girls' Life Brigade Concert
The old Kamo school was packed last night when the Ist Company of the Kamo Girls’ Life Brigade, and the company's cadets, staged the first concert of the year. Conducted by the leader and tutor of the brigade and the cadets, Miss V. Bradley and Mrs C. Brierly respectively, the concert was a complete success, and over ( :7 was raised for contribution to the Presbyterian. Methodist and Anglican Churches for use in mission work, and for the World-wide Evangelical Movement. All those who had helped to make the concert such a good one were congratulated after the performance by the Rev. Bruce Bisset, of Hikurangi, who mentioned especially the two leaders.
Following the concert Mrs Brierly was presented with a bouquet by Miss Pat Moore, one of the cadets, while Miss Bradley received a shoulder spray from Misses Fay Moore and Elaine Martel, brigade members. PRESENTATIONS Two brigade leaders of last year, Misses Claire Gardiner and Judy Reybur.n, were presented with h book each by Mrs Brierly on behalf of the brigade.
The programme was as follows. Brigade hymn, cadet call, recitation (Naomi Morning), song (Jill Sanders), recitation (Jackie Freeman), short play and solo and chorus by the girls, recitation (Faye Moore), dance (Pat de Thierry), song "Candle-light” by the chorus, two short sketches by the Brigade girls, solo (Shirley Sanders), cadet play, recitation (Jocelyn Halse and Marianne May), dance (Noeline Martin and Pat de Thierry), sketch, "The Scarecrow Band,” using combs as instruments, by the Brigade girls, followed by a play.
