Fear Severe Polio Epidemic In Britain
LONDON, Fri. (10.30 a.m.).—There are fears that the mounting number of qases of infantile paralysis means a repetition of Britain’s severest epidemic in 1947. There were 112 notifletetions for the week ended July 16, an increase of 39 cases on the previous week. A British Medical Association spokesman said, • however, one reassuring factor was that up to the r esent the large centres of population were not involved. There was a relatively high attack rate in small isolated communities.
