After leading by 11 points to 3 at half-time and giving much the better performance throughout the whole 80 minutes, the All Blacks ■lost the first test against South Africa through penalties, five out of the 10 awarded the Springboks being converted by the burly Transvaal front-row forward A. Gefhn. The final score was South Africa v 15, New Zealand 11. . Geifin set a record for tests between the two countries by kicking all his side’s points.
