BUILDER SHUTS DOWN When a householder can be fined for using a bag of cement to make a path to his door, it is evidence of bureaucratic .controls run riot. Even when a man possesses building materials and finds a builder, he must plead for a permit from the building controller. No wonder an Auckland builder recently declared—‘'What I have done is to pack my ladders, trestles and spare timber, and shut down until better counsels prevail.” Facts have proved that the Socialist-Labour Govern- i ment’s policies mean brakes on construct ion and enterprise.
