Blind People Gan See By Listening
MOSCOW, Fri. (1 p.m.).—Russian scientists say they have invented a photo-electric cell device which enables blind people to distinguish colours. The Ministry of Health publication says the apparatus picks up light waves which are transformed into' sound and relayed to the blind person’s ear. Different colours emit varying sound waves, making them easily distinguishable.
The first blind man to try the device said he could distinguish the colour of clothing and hair, and could determine the amount of water in a glass.
