Auckland Maori Reps For Waitangi Shield

The Auckland team to play Northland in the Maori Rugby League tribal competition for the Waitangi Shield at Carlaw Park on Wednesday is: Ropata. M. Pai. Bell, Masters, Tukere, Herewith, Stewart. Paratene, Mills. Ewe, Wright. Diamond. Rogers. C. Pai, Rangi, Davis and Smith. Bay Acquisition

A Kawakawa enthusiast writes:— A new star has risen in Bay of Islands Rugb/. He is Gordon Perrin, of Kawakawa. An ! ex-Matamata representative of two seasons. Perrin made his debut in the North this season, playing as first five-eighth for the Kawakawa senior team. He quickly came under Selector Barclay’s eye and last Saturday filled the fiveeighth berth for the Bay against North Hokianga when he proved the selector’s judgment by playing an outstanding game.

Perrin is at home under any conditions, can take a pass from any angle, send out passes that the men outside him dream about, kicks with either foot, and is quick oft' the mark.

- Perrin has been chosen by the Northland selector as a trialist in the Pakeha side to play the Maoris at Kaikohe on Saturday, and needs only to play to his usual standard to probably beat some of the more wellknown probables for the first fiveeighth berth in the Northland team.
