WELLINGTON, Tue. (P.A.)—The last New Zealand soldier from Japan, Pte. W. O. Simpson, of « Auckland, returned today by the Monowai from Sydney and was given an “Army inception.” He was placed under arrest by a sergeant-major and a corporal. Simpson told pressmen that on November 23, when his draft of J Force was about to leave for ; New Zealand, he was so busy saying good-bye to his fi’iends that he missed the embarkation train, re- . maining the lone Kiwi in the Far East. j The best thing he could do, he said, was to surrender himself to the Americans, and he remained with them, for three months.
