3 Attend War Memorial Meeting

Consideration of plans for a Whangarei war memorial was deferred until next Monday when the Whangarei War Memorial Committee met last night ' It was considered advisable to allow members another week in which to make investigations into a proposal the town can afford. In one of the best wrestling bouts seen in Napier, the British Empire champion, Earl McCready (17.6), beat Eric Holmbeck (iai2), on points on Saturday night. The bout was rugged throughout eight rounds. Holmbeck gained a fall in the fifth round, following elbow jolts and three solid dumps, ending with a body press. McCready equalised in the seventh with two dunips, followed by a body press.
