More White Cotton Soon
WELLINGTON, Tue. (P.A.) Supplies of white cotton will show a definite improvement this month and future supplies are assured, said the Wellington representative of a large British fii-m when asked for a statement on the reasons for the present shortage. The shortage, he said, had been nainly due to panic buying by women ho had heard rumours that white tton would become scarce. There had been a drop in produc, ion, but nowhere near enough to account for the shortage during the past 12 months. Retailers knew that some of their customers must have built up stocks to last them for 12 months. He emphasised that import licences were adequate for requirements.
