Chinese Poses As Sydney Merchant
AUCKLAND, Fri. (P.A.).—A Chinese who posed as a Sydney merchant and failed to pay £2l owing for hoard at an Auckland private hotel, pleaded guilty in the police court yesterday to a charge of vagrancy. He was Jim Pei Lo, 42. who, the police stated, recently completed a two years’ prison term and had numerous previous convictions. His permit to remain in New Zealand expired in 1946 and the authorities were considering deportation. The magistrate (Mr F. H. Levien) ordered three months’ imprisonment.
