More State Houses Finished
Four tenants took possession of state houses in the new Weaver Street in Whangarei this week.
The first house in this street Was opened two months ago.
All 22 units were built by rehabilitation trainees, as were 14 at Moody’s Avenue, which are now occupied. Painters will finish the remaining houses, which will then be opened. Four houses in Islington Avenue are awaiting the painters.
As the rehabilitation trainees are taken from these houses they will be sent to the Carruth Block, where several units are in the course of construction.
A private contractor is erecting nine, five of which should be ready for occupation before Christmas. The trainees are working on the block forming an extension to First Avenue, and are already putting up the weatherboards on one house.
Both extensions to First and Second Avenues are nearly completed.
