16 Breaches Of Traffic Regulations

Sixteen breaches of the transport regulations came before Mr W. C. Harley, S.M., at the Whangarei Court yesterday. For driving at speeds over 30 m.p.h., Mervyn George Coffin was fined 30/-, with 12/- costs; Alec Trevethan Lowndes £2, with 12/- costs; Desmond Parry North, £2, with 10/- costs; Arthur Norman Scrivener, £2, with 10/- costs; Graham Whatmough, £2, with 10/costs; and James McGregor Bai'ron, £2, with 10/- costs.

Fines for driving without licences were imposed upon Percy Watene (£l, with 12/- costs), Keith Robert White (£l, with 12/- costs), James McGregor Barron (£2, with 10/- costs). Robert Clark Fyfe was oi’dered to pay 12/- costs after being charged with overtaking another vehicle on the left-hand side. For operating a heavy motor vehicle without a heavy licence, Frederick Julius Tunzleman was fined £2, with 12/- costs. Henry Kedzlie Wilson Moffat was fined £3, with 18/- costs, for carrying on a goods service in a controlled area otherwise than in pursuant to the authority of a goods service licence. RAILWAY LINE NOT CLEAR Andrew Coutts was charged with crossing a railway line when it was not clear. Inspector G. Hunter said Coutts had explained that the reflection of the sun had prevented him seeing the warning signal. Coutts was fined 10/with 11/- costs.

For allowing his vehicle to be driven, without a warrant of fitness. Ernest Geoi'ge Mitchell was fined 10/-, with 10/- costs. A fine of 5/-, with 12/- costs, was imposed on Cecil George Thorburn for opei’ating a motor-cycle without adequate footrests.

Percy Watene was fined £2, with 12/aosts, for failing to keep as close as practicable to the left.
