Australian Itinerary
CANBERRA, Wed. (11.30 p.m.).— The Prime Minister (Mr Chifley) has announced the full itinerary of the Australian tour by the King and Queen and Princess Margaret. The tour will last 08 days and will begin at Sydney on April 4. The Royal party will spend 14J days in New South Wales and three in Canberra before travelling to Brisbane by train on April 21. After visiting the Barrier Reef, the Royal party will travel by HMS Vanguard to Tasmania, which it will tour from May 5 to May 9 before appearing at Melbourne on May 11. Adelaide will be reached on May 20, and they will fly to Kalgoorlie and Perth on June 6.
The King and Queen will make a farewell broadcast from Perth on June 10 and will leave the Commonwealth after embarking on the Vanguard at Fremantle on June 11.
Commenting on the Royal itinerary the Fremier .of Victoria (Mr Hollway) said that while some towns and organisations would be disappointed at their elimination in the curtailed programme it was realised that this was done to relieve the Royal visitors of considerable strain.
