Mediator’s Flan For Palestine Peace

LONDON, Sun. (10 a.m.)— The United Nations mediator (Count Bernadotte) said in Stockholm today that he would offer his peace proposals for Palestine to the United Nations General Assembly, which convenes in Paris on September 21. An Israeli Foreign Office spokesman said in Tel Aviv today that Israel was prepared to hold separate peace talks with each Arab country.

If such talks were held, Transjordan would probably be the first country on the list. Britain was not able to vote for the admission of Israel to the United Nations in the present conditions, said a British spokesman at Lake Success.

I-Ic was commenting on an Israeli memorandum to the Security Council contending that the admission of the new Jewish state to the United Nations would prove a boon to peace and stability in the Middle East. BRITISH OFFICERS IN IRAK

The Israeli Government’s formal application for admission probably will not be submitted until the General Assembly meets in Paris.

The spokesman said that Britain’s eventual attiude would depend on the progress made toward an amicable settlement of the Palestine problem by the time the council dealt with Israel’s application. The Associated Press correspondent, quoting the newspaper A 1 Misri, says that Irak has asked Britain to advise British officers with Transjordan’s Arab Legion to resign or take long leave or else they will be dismissed when Irak takes command.
