Admits Receiving Stolen Too
WELLINGTON, Sat. (P.A.L—When searching the snip Forsdale yesterday afternoon a constable entered the cabin of a fireman, Herbert Broomfield, and found 221 b. of loose tea in a pillowcase and a paper bag. Broomfield. 45, pleaded guilty in the Police Court today to receiving tea valued at £4/19/-, the property of the Shaw Savill and Albion Company.
He told the police that he got the tea from a watersider in Wellington and knew it had been stolen. Justices sentenced him to one month’s imprisonment and ordered that he be placed aboard the ship if it sailed before the expiry of the term.
