Uranium Sought in N.Z. Oil Shales
WELLINGTON, Thu. (Sp.)— Samples of oil shales were being collected by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research for radio-active analysis, said the Minister in charge of the department (Mr McCombs) in the House of Representatives yesterday.He was replying to a question from Dr A. M. Finlay. Mr McCombs stated that New Zealand concentrates did not appear to be economically exploitable at present, unless as a stock-piling measure subsidiary to the economic extraction of some other materials.
