Fighting In Kashmir
NEW DELHI, Wed. (10 a.m.).—An Indian Defence Ministry communique said Indian troops repulsed a wellplanned enemy attack in a 45-minute battle south of Tithwal, 65 miles northwest of,Srinagar, Kashmir. “Fourteen of the enemy were counted killed and. 16 were believed wounded,” the communique J said. The Karachi newspaper Dawn ha? accused the Prime Minister of India (Mr Nehru) of threatening war on Pakistan.
In an Independence-Day reference to the Kashmir fighting, Dawn sab Mr Nehru “is growing increasingly and disgustingly belligerent. FITTING WELCOME’ “Mr Nehru has threatened war, but if he thinks such a threat is going to frighten the people of Pakistan he L to be pitied. “If he wants to go forward he will meet with a fitting welcome.” The Hyderabad Government has demanded “the immediate withdrawal” of Indian trdbps from Hyderabad territory, in a protest to the Indian Government against the occupation o Yelsangi village and Sendri railway station.
The Prince of Bebar, eldest son of the Nizam of Hyderabad is reported to have resigned his post as com-mander-in chief of the Hyderabad forces.
