Plan For Amalgamation
DARGAVILLE, Thu. (Sp.).—The : Prime Minister is to be urged by the Hobson County Council to see that the amalgamation of Northland hospital districts is carried out on the ■y lines of the report of the Local Government Commission which made the inquiry last year. §£' A report was quoted to the meeting ' from the Whangarei Hospital Board that the amalgamation was to be P brought about on the lines of the y Hokianga special area scheme. £• ■ Some councillors deplored such a happening and, while one' favoured waiting until the legislation appeared in the House of Representatives, the balance was unanimous that action should be taken at once and the motion was carried without dissent. A strong opponent of extension of the Hokianga scheme was Cr G. Stallsi, worthy who said it would be a case . of making the North an experimental If block for the rest of New Zealand.
