Correspondent Expelled
BERLIN, Tue.—The British Military Governor in Germany (General Sir Brian Robertson), has ordered Peter Nettl, a casual correspondent for the London weekly journal the Economist, who has been visiting Berlin, to leave Germany. The authorities gave no reason for Nettl’s expulsion. Nettl formerly was an intelligence officer with the British Control Commission.
He had been a guest in General Robertson’s house.
He has left Gatow airport for Buckeburg, in the British zone. British police escorted him to the plane and his luggage was examined before he left. FALSE REPRESENTATION?
Nettl told other correspondents that he was informed that he wa c bein'’ sent out of Germany because he was charged with falsely representing himself as a member of the Control Commission.
He said he had collected some documents which he intended to use for purely literary purposes, in compiling a book on the economy of the Russian zone of Germany.
