Security Council Orders Cease-Fire In Palestine

NEW YORK, Thu. (1 p.m.).—The Security Council, by a vote of 9 to 1, has ordered a cease-fire in Palestine within three days. Syria voted against this motion and Argentina abstained. The Council also voted, by 8 to 1, that the situation in Palestine constituted a threat to peace under Article 39 of the Charter. Syria voted against and Argentina and China abstained.
