Professor H. B. Kirk
HAMILTON, Fri. (P.A.).—The death has occurred in the Waikato Hospital of Professor Harry Borrer Kirk, late professor of the Biology Department of the Victoria University.
Professor Kirk was born in Coventry, England, and received his education at the Auckland Grammar School and Wellington College. He took his B.A. degree in 1882 and graduated M.A. with honours in zoology and botany the following year. He entered the Education Department as assistant inspector of native schools in 1879 and later became professor of Botany at the Victoria University, where he was instrumental in establishing the biology block.
