Good yardings were submitted at tho Kamo sales, where dairy cattle continued in strong demand for close-up sorts. Values were well up to late rates. Pigs were also in demand, with a further hardening in prices for slips and weaners. In the store cattle sections a keen inquiry was noted and values were on a par with late rates. ’
Realisations were: Best Jersey cows, close to profit, £l3 to £ls/10/-; good Shorthorn cows, to £l3; crossbred cows, close up, £lO to £l3/5/-; aged and backward cows, £6/10/- to £9/10/-; best Jersey heifers, close to profit. £l2 to £l6; best crossbred heifers, £9 to £ls/5/-; smaller and backward heifers. £7 to £B/15/-; empty 2-year heifers, £5; 4-year bullocks in iorward condition. £l4/15/- to £ls; 2-year Shorthorn steers, £9; 2-year coloured steers, £B/15/-; fat cows, £9/17/6
to £l3; store and run cows, £5/15/- to £9: heavv boner cows, £6/5/- to £7/10/-; lighter, £4 to £6; heavy baconer pigs, £6/6/- to £6/14/-; medium, £5/15/- to £6/2/-; porkers, £3/5/- to £4/5/-; slips, to £2/10/-; weaners, 16/- to £l/14/-; sows and litters, to £l2/5/-; backward sows, £4/15/- to £5/12/6. Dairy cattle sold to £26 at a clearing sale conducted by Wright, Stephenson anti Co. Lid on account of Mr J. L. Parker at Wollsford. A good attendance of buyers from a wide area saw keen competition for the herd, which was of good average quality. An average realisation oi £l3 was recorded for the cows. Heifers averaged £l6. The same firm reported private sales during the week, including a line ol in-calf pedigree Jersey heifers at 30 and ?spr> and a herd oi' 24 grade Jersey cows at £l4.
