The monthly meeting of the Waipu Wo>s™ s Institute was held in the Church Hall. Mrs McLennan presided over a very well-attended meeting. A committee "-as chosen to discuss and arrange a play ior the Whangarei Federation play festival. Mrs Holmwood agreed to be in charge of the institute court at the Whangare* Winter Exhibition. M’-s J. C. McKay read letters from pa ims in hospital who had received flowers from the institute. „ M ,r, s C. Thompson agreed to take Mrs J. C. McKay s place as social secretary durmg the latter’s temporary absence* from the district. Birthday sprays were presented to Mrs A W. McKay, Mrs Cullen, of Mangawai Mrs Coster and Mrs D. McKenzie. Mrs Cullen. who has been absent through illness for several months, was welcomed back by the president and also presented with a shoulder spray. „ T Tll c thought for the day was given by Mrs Moje. Mrs Gordon gave her report on Ihe Whangarei Federation meeting. It was proposed and carried that if necessary the institute will assist in the collection of funds for the UNO children’s appeal. McKav 3 The toy section result was: Mrs HolmA -' - *.• M>’s Antonovich 2, Mrs Massev 3. Mrs Mete and Mrs J. Sloane were pianly'ys uurmg the absence of Mrs Sefton McLean on holiday. The hostesses were Mesdames Schultz and Kc-nz:c McLean.
