Weight Of History
Of a symmetrical oval stone, used by a Darwin newspaperman as a paperweight, a Sydney anthropologist said: “Probably the oldest type stone implement ever found in Australia . . . prehistoric . . . 10,000 to 15,000 years old.” It was found on Melville Island and is now in the Sydney Museum.
