133-Year-Old Paper Found Behind Picture
A 133-year-old copy of the London Times, dated Thursday. June 22, 1815, and containing dispatches from Lord Wellington at Waterloo, is in the possession of Mr C. Reinhardt, of Cafler’s Avenue, Whangarei. Mr Reinhardt found the paper at the back of an old picture. The glass had broken and. when the picture was being removed, the 133-year-old Times was discovered. The edition was badly creased by long pressure in the frame, and some of the creases have since developed into outright cracks. However, the rest of the paper is in good order, although yellow, and the print is quite easily read. Containing two leaves, the London Times of 1815 measures 171 in long and just a fraction under ll.lin wide. The front page is devoted to small advertisements of all descriptions, including some for Wet Nurses. Inside are the dispatches from Lord Wellington and the leading article.
