WSiongorei Boy Seaplane Coptcaln
Captain of a seaplane operating between England and Sydney, is Mr Russell King, a former pupil of the Whangarei High School and later a mail deliverer in the town. Flying back from Colombo, where he represented New Zealand at the opening of Ceylon’s first Dominion Parliament, the High Commissioner at Canberra (Mr J. G. Barclay) was recognised by Mr King, who was in command of the aircraft, as a former follow townsman. SERVICE IN AIR FORCE Joining the Air Force at Whangarei in 1010, Mr King, after considerable experience as a wartime pilot, on his discharge joined the British Overseas •Aircraft Corporation. "1 thought it might be interesting for the Advocate to knew how another Whangarei boy had made good,” wrote Mr Barclay to a stall' member. Mr I-I. W. S. Cheeseman was elected unopposed as the Hokianga Hospital Board’s first .deputy chairman at yesterday’s meeting in Rawene.
