Takwaiwai Club To Hire Bus For Players

Rugby League . . .

To enable players to reach fields away from home at the minimum expense to themselves, the Takahiwai Rugby League Football Club intends this season t 0 hire a bus and charge a flat rate of 2/- for each player. Last season, players travelling to Whangarei for a game, had to pay up to 9/- as bus fare. This year, the club intends to play home and away games on alternate Saturdays. Players for Whangarei games will pay their 2/-, and the rest of the bus-hire money will be provided by the club. This was decided at the annual meeting of the club. Last year’s chairman (Mr H. Kcppa) submitted the annual report, while the secretary-treasurer (Mi J. A. Chetham) presented his financial statement. This showed a healthy credit balance, due to “very generous support from people in the district, plus the untiring efforts of Mr I. Vuletich, organising president.” Visits from Zora Club in Auckland had also assisted, Mr Chetham reported.’ Officers elected for the year were: — Patron, Mr A. Papich; president, Mr I. Vuletich; chairman, Mr H. Keppa; secretary-treasurer, Mr J. A. Chetham; and committee of seven, including the above named and Messrs J. Newton, H. Pirihi, and T. Carr. Messrs Chetham and Vuletich were appointed as delegates to the Northern Rugby League. This season Takahiwai will enter two teams, one senior and one junior. Mr Carr will be selector coach for the junior club.
