ACCUSED
THAMES.— Charged before justices in Thames with theft of various items to a total value of £289 from the Thames. Sawmilling Company’s mill at Matatoki on June 19, George Eccles, 30, farmer, pleaded guilty, and Patrick Austin Deane, 29, farmer, and Augustus Daniel Deane, 25, farmer, both pleaded not .guilty. Eccles was committed for sentence and the Deane brothers were sent for trial.
The police evidence dealt with the discovery on Eccles’ farm of property as having come from the mill. —(Sp.)
